It is believed by many that you can win more games if you play your hand slower. Well, this is nothing more than a common misconception. Of course, sometimes it may turns out to become true but in most of the cases, it hardly ever is as stated above, especially when you are dealt with a strong hand. Below I have mentioned a few reason why to play slow is not a good idea:
Better Betting
If you are looking to build a huge pot with a strong hand like a set, the better for you is to be betting. You should raise pre-flop, bet on the turn and flop, and give your hidden card a shocking to your opponents. In other terms, you need to gradually get all-in.
You might think that you will scare your opponents if you keep betting continuously but this will not be like this if they are holding a reasonably strong hand. Keep in mind that big pots take place when a strong hand runs into an even stronger hand. If the player in your opponent chooses to fold prior to getting your entire chips in the table, it merely wasn’t meant to be.
However, make sure that you won’t place ridiculously large raises or bets. After all, who would like to complete against you if you choose to bet $700 into a $70 pot. At least, no smart guy will. There are times when it seems to be better to play slow. For instance, it is a smart decision to play slow when you flop a straight flush, a full house, quads, a royal flush, the nut straight, or the nut flush. Those are damn strong hands. You will get hardly ever beaten with these hands. You will want your opponent to place every possible bet.
